Book Review of Clifford The Crocodile Loses His Two Front Teeth by Darrell Warren and illustrated by Alex Crump
Once upon a time, there was a crocodile with sturdy teeth.
They munched and crunched and enabled him to eat.
While most crocodiles cleaned their teeth with long sticks,
Clifford couldn't be bothered with it.
Cleaning is for the birds, or so he thought.
What happens to a crocodile who does not gargle or floss?
Clifford The Crocodile Loses His Two Front Teeth is author Darrell Warren and illustrator Alex Crump's second book collaboration. The duo created an entertainingly clever fictional picture book with a serious message about dental hygiene. Children learn from Clifford, a cute and cuddly crocodile character, about what happens when you do not adequately care for your teeth.
Also, did I forget to mention that this spectacular book is a rhyming book? Rhyming literature is an excellent tool for strengthening young readers' memory, phonemic awareness, cognitive skills, comprehension abilities, vocabulary, and more.
Author Darrell Warren and illustrator Alex Crump are so effective at storytelling and picture book illustration that some children may not even realize that they are learning about the importance of tooth health from a modern-day dinosaur. I recommend Clifford The Crocodile Loses His Two Front Teeth for ages two to eight. Appropriate for circle time, bedtime, or anytime. And do not forget also to read Larry The Lion Has A Crazy Mane Day, the first in the Fun Animal Stories series.
