Ultra-Modern Book Review of Lila and the Voice Written by Kathleen B. Williams and Illustrated by 105 PUBLISHING
Lila is a happy child who loves to play, sing, dance, and paint with bright colors. One day, while painting and singing her favorite song, “This Little Light of Mine,” Lila heard a voice call her name three times. Although she searched the house high and low, she could not find its source. Confused, Lila wrote about the experience in her journal and asked her mother about “the voice.” Her mother explained that the voice she hears is the voice of God. That night, Lila’s mother retold the story of Samuel and assured Lila that as she grows, she will develop a stronger bond with God, enabling her to hear the Lord clearly and guide her on the right path. Knowing that God is always present brought Lila great joy. Later that night, mother and daughter knelt together, prayed, and went to sleep.
“Lila and the Voice” is the first book in Kathleen B. Williams’s “God Speaks” series. As a Christian author and teacher, Williams has created a lovely story about a Christian family and their joyful daughter, Lila, as she first hears God call her name. The book depicts Bible stories with contemporary characters and situations, which makes the characters more relatable to today’s children. The bold and beautiful illustrations make this book an enjoyable read, even for reluctant readers. Additionally, the book includes music, scriptures, The Children’s Prayer, and a coloring page. “Lila and the Voice” would be a great addition to any family library and is a sweet bedtime story.
